Hello, my name is Sophia Papantoniou-McDonald and I’m a BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist based in Milcombe, Banbury, Oxfordshire.
I provide counselling and psychotherapy to people over the age of 18 years, either on a one-to-one basis or as a couple (husband & wife, parent & child, siblings etc). I offer counselling to people who live in Banbury and the surrounding areas, including Bloxham, Hook Norton, Deddington, Adderbury, Aynho, Bodicote, Tadmarton, Sibford Ferris, Swerford, Great Tew and Chipping Norton.
I’ve always been interested in why I think the way I do and why other people think the way they do, so embarking on a counselling course seemed the logical step to try and find the answers to some of those questions.
I feel that if I know why I think the things I do, I can understand why I feel and behave the way I do. Six years of study has helped me to understand myself a lot more, and also understand how I can help other people.
The simplest and most effective way to do this is for me to listen while you talk and to see things from your perspective. I will also offer you alternative viewpoints and will gently challenge some of your values and beliefs to see if they still work for you in your life today. Together we’ll look at what is troubling you, how to make sense of it and how to deal with it, and also where it may have come from. If you have a better understanding of yourself, you can make the necessary changes in your life in order to achieve how you want to live.
During my counselling career I have worked with a variety of issues. Each person I’ve worked with has been different because we are all unique, and even if we have the same problem, we all deal with it in different ways.
